A persistent toothache can be a symptom of decay that may have advanced deep into the tooth’s pulp, causing irreversible damage to the nerve. Rather than extracting the tooth, we can protect it by performing a root canal treatment.
Having root canal treatment usually involves two visits to our dentist which, depending on which tooth needs the procedure, will last approximately 1-hr each.
We also offer sedation for those patients who are feeling a little bit nervous. You can find out more about our sedation here.

I thought my tooth was a lost cause. Gracefield worked their magic and now it’s as good as new.
‘Dr Nuno Santos was brilliant. I’ve been terrified of the dentist since I was a child but he put me at ease and I never felt a thing!’
My tooth feels stronger now and there’s no pain at all. It looks amazing too.
Root canal treatments should not be painful. We ensure our patients are as comfortable as possible throughout the procedure by using strong local anesthesia. In rare cases, where the pulp is highly inflamed, your dentist may settle the tooth first using a sedative dressing along with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs.
Our dentists are trained to the highest standards and are meticulous about their work which means our patients experience a 90% success rate. Additionally, if a crown is used to further protect the tooth against the possibility of a fracture, the success rate is even greater.
Because the procedure is fairly complicated, the cost of a root canal is more expensive than a simple filling. Keep in mind that if your dentist is recommending a root canal, it is because a filling is not a viable option. However, compared to extracting the tooth and replacing it with a bridge or implant, the cost of a root canal is quite competitive.
