Restore your natural smile

DENTURES

If you’ve lost your natural teeth due to gum disease, tooth decay or injury, dentures can replace your missing teeth and restore your natural smile. Dentures also make it easier to eat and speak and support the facial muscles- which reduces sagging- and makes you appear younger.

A set of full dentures are made of a removable acrylic base (plate) and a set of crafted, natural looking acrylic teeth which fit over your gums, whilst a partial denture is attached to the teeth on either side of a gap.

To make sure your denture fits correctly and as comfortable as possible, your dentist will take an impression, make precise measurements, and then give them to a technician who will custom build your dentures.

HAPPY PATIENTS

I honestly thought there wasn’t much that could be done about my missing teeth. But once Gracefield showed me what my smile could look like with a simple denture I was sold. You just can’t tell that they are false.

I’m missing several teeth but nobody ever notices because of my metal framed. The clips are hidden and it is so secure, I can eat anything on the menu. Gracefield did an amazing job.

It’s wonderful having a full set of teeth again. My dentures look completely natural.

FAQs

WHAT KIND OF DENTURE IS RIGHT FOR ME?

There are two main types of dentures:

Full dentures replaces all your teeth and is placed in the patient’s mouth after all the remaining teeth have been removed and sufficient tissue healing has occurred.

Partial dentures replace only those that are missing.

The type of denture that is best for you depends on the amount of missing teeth and overall health of your mouth. Quite often a partial denture will be designed with an ultra thin, slimline metal frame for increased comfort.

WILL MY DENTURES CAUSE DISCOMFORT?

It is quite common to experience some minor irritation when you are first fitted with full dentures. However, during this important, initial bedding in period, your dentist will keep a close eye on how your are adapting and will make any adjustments necessary to maintain your comfort. At Gracefield Dental all our denture impressions are cast up in our on site laboratory. This crucial step ensures that our impressions do not distort and result in dentures that do not fit properly.

WILL I BE ABLE EAT NORMALLY WITH DENTURES?

Most patients learn how to eat normally quite quickly, though harder or sticky food may take slightly longer to become comfortable with. If necessary, we advise using a small amount of denture adhesive to help stabilise the dentures and hold them in place to make the learning process easier.

CAN I SLEEP IN MY DENTURES?

We prefer that you remove, clean and store your dentures during the time your normally sleep to give your gums and jaw bone a proper chance to relax.

We recommend a daily morning routine which includes brushing your gums, tongue and palate with a soft-bristled brush before inserting your dentures for the day. This will stimulate circulation in your tissues and help remove and prevent the buildup of plaque

You should never wear your dentures 24 hours a day and performing proper oral hygiene is essential.
