Designed as a permanent solution to weak or compromised teeth, crowns fit above the gum and over an existing tooth to restore its size and shape as well improving its appearance.
Unlike a dental implant, the tooth’s root remains in the patient’s mouth and a crown, often made from a gold shell with a layer of aesthetic porcelain, is attached to it. This is known as a bonded crown and will restore the integral strength of your tooth and make it appear brand new again.
Over the past thirty years these ceramic crowns have evolved into extremely life-like and strong, long lasting restorative solutions.
There may be times, however, when a crown is needed outside the traditional “aesthetic zone”, such as the back of the mouth. In these case where space is limited and aesthetics are less important, crowns may be made from a strong, solid gold alloy.
The cost of a crown are as follows:

My crown made a huge difference to my appearance. I feel years younger!
There are many different options for the materials used when making crowns. Porcelain crowns are the most popular because they give a more natural appearance as opposed to traditional metal or gold crowns. Your dentist will advise you on the appropriate material for you.
Some patients may experience some sensitivity for a period of time after their tooth is prepared for a crown. This almost always disappears after the crown has been fitted.
We will first need to book an appointment so we can prepare your tooth for its new crown. During this appointment we will take impressions and match your shade to ensure the best colour match to your natural tooth. You will then be asked to return for another appointment, generally two weeks later, where we will bond your custom made crown onto your tooth.
